Nominate Projects/Submit Case Studies

WaterProjectsOnline and the Water Projects Journal are publishing platforms for technical project case studies and Innovations & Technology papers from water companies, their project delivery partners and the wider supply chain.

We accept case studies and technical papers on a rolling basis throughout the year which will be published soon after they are received on WaterProjectsOnline. From these, 65-70 will be selected for inclusion in the year end Water Projects publication.

HOW TO NOMINATE

To nominate projects, please fully complete a project nomination form and email to [email protected] – one nomination form for each project you wish to feature. Once we receive your completed nomination form(s), we will allocate your WaterProjectsOnline publication date and confirm the submission date for your case study(s).

There are no limits on the number of case studies that you can submit and there are no geographical restrictions.

SUITABLE PROJECTS

Sections covered include all aspects of:

  1. Wastewater Treatment & Sewerage: Wastewater Treatments Works, Sewers & Outfalls, Pumping Stations, Odour Control, Stormwater Storage, Nature-Based Solutions etc.
  2. Water Treatment & Supply: Water Treatment Works, Pipelines, Pumping Stations, Reservoirs, Leakage, Pressure Management etc.
  3. Renewable Energy: Thermal Hydrolysis, Hydro Electric, Wind, Solar, Gas to Grid etc.
  4. Flood Alleviation: River Flood Protection, Sea Defeneces & Coastal Protection, Protection of Assets etc.
  5. River Work: Fish Passes, Eel Regulations, River Diversions, River & Habitat Restoration etc.
  6. Industrial Water & Wastewater Treatment & Supply: Applicable installations including: Mine Water, Quarries, Breweries & Distilleries, Pharmaceutical, Paper Mills, Paint Manufacturing etc.

STATUS OF PROJECTS

We publish case studies dealing projects at various stages of their development including:

  1. Recently completed projects: Typically featuring the project in its entirety (design through to handover).
  2. Ongoing projects: Projects do not have to be complete to be featured. You can cover the project up to its current development and follow this up with a completion article in future editions.
  3. Flagship projects: Large, high profile projects can be featured on multiple occasions throughout the construction programme (eg: the design, the main construction, M&E installation, commissioning etc as well as selected aspects of note).
  4. Individual components of a project: Highlighting specific aspects of the overall scheme as standalone case studies.
  5. Follow up case studies: Continuation case studies detailing the latter stages/completion of projects featured in previous editions of Water Projects.

EDITORIAL GUIDELINES: FULL PROJECT CASE STUDIES

Please follow these guidelines to ensure that your case study meets the editorial requirements for publication the Water Projects technical journal and/or on WaterProjectsOnline.

LENGTH

TITLE & SUB-TITLE

Word count: Typically, 1500-2000 words (minimum 1000 words). We do include some extended articles (up to 3500 words). Please ask about availability.
Title: The full project name.
Sub-title: A short (approx. 20 words) summary of the case study.

GENERAL STRUCTURE

Overall focus: The case studies are technical articles aimed at engineers in the water industry and should focus on the design, construction and process technology elements of the project. Please follow the general structure below.

NOTE: Case studies should be written in the third person.

Introduction: Case studies should start with the general location of the project, the population/population equivalent served (if applicable), a brief description of the current facility, reason for the work/project drivers, optioneering etc.
Body of article: A technical description of the design, construction work, and process technologies and/or products/equipment (how they work, reason for selection etc) that have been utilised on the project.
For treatment works: Consider following the flow of raw water/wastewater into the works, describing the processes stage by stage from the inlet works through to clean water into supply/treated wastewater to discharge to the river/sea.
List of key participants: Please include the role and company names of the main designers and main contractors, specialist consultants, sub-contractors, and the suppliers of key process plant/equipment and construction materials used on the project.
Innovations, cost savings & carbon reduction: If applicable, please highlight noteworthy innovations and savings.
Conclusion/summary: Progress to date, successes, future phases, timings, performance results (if known) etc.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Author credits: Typically we include the writer’s name and academic and professional qualifications as well as their job title and the full name of the company they represent. If no individual is to be named. we will credit the case study to the writer’s company.

Photograph format, quantity and quality: We require high resolution JPGs, PNGs or PDFs. The approximate pixel dimensions and number of photos required are:

EDITORIAL GUIDELINES: INNOVATIONS & TECHNOLOGY PAPERS

Innovations & Technology technical papers give companies the opportunity of highlighting their processes, products and/or services by providing technical papers aimed at the water companies and their project delivery partners (Tiers 1 and 2).

Please follow these guidelines to ensure that your paper meets the editorial requirements for publication the Water Projects technical journal and/or on WaterProjectsOnline.

LENGTH

TITLE & SUB-TITLE

Word count: Typically, 1500-2000 words (minimum 1000 words).
Title: The process technology/product/service name.
Sub-title: A short (approx. 20 words) summary of the article.

GENERAL STRUCTURE

Overall focus: Innovation & Technology technical papers should be aimed at engineers at water companies and companies responsible for the design and construction of the capital works programme.

NOTE: Innovation & Technology papers should be written in the third person.

Introduction: Explain the issues/problems faced by water companies/clients.
Body of article: Provide an in-depth description of how your company’s process/product/service works to overcome these issues, as well as explaining its capabilities and benefits.
Example case studies: We recommend including short case studies detailing one or more installations (there are no geographical restrictions to the location of project references).
Innovations, cost savings & carbon reduction: If applicable, please highlight noteworthy innovations and savings gained by using your company’s process, product or service.
Conclusion/summary: Successes, performance results, contact awards for future phases and upcoming projects etc.
